Morning Scene

“The Roots of Violence: Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice, Politics without principles” (Mahatma Gandhi)

Family mornings begin with a national and local broadsheet for a daily dose of news. Sadly, there barely is any good news. As such it reminds me of the a line in the movie, Fracture. The character of Anthony Hopkins said, "Knowledge is pain." It may be painful, but knowledge is still good. It is especially important to be aware of what's going on in your community, in the country, and in the world; because with awareness it is the first step to action.

This week in Project 64 Out of the Box is burnt sienna. I was really having a hard time with this color. I just could not find anything interesting enough for this color. I almost gave up until I made up my mind to capture something from our day to day life. I also answered Brooke's challenge of a diptych. These are two photos that represent a morning scene with my family...coffee and newspaper.

This is a lovely diptych, great choice for Burnt Sienna and definitely out of the box.
