Oh My...It's Mid Year!

Bye bye May...I have fun and made the most of my sunny days during this month. I'm saddened because when June comes it usually means - rain. But hey, rain should be good right? Did I just say June? Oh my really it's already June? My golly...it's in the middle of the year!!! Time flies so fast indeed. I usually do a resolution check during this month. Probably because it's middle of the year and partly because it's also the beginning of another year in my life. It's a meditation and realization month for me so wish me luck. I hope I'll find positive results on my resolution checklist and hopefully some of those are already ticked off.

As I was about to put away my May calendar, I found that the wooden clip I used is a dog character with yellow orange hair and ears. Hehehhehehe. The "doggie" looks like a carrot top. :-) Cool, this saves me from slacking on this week's Project 64 Out of the Box color assignment.

May Flowers

I remember before I attended to any formal education as a kid, I used to to be an "angel" in a church activity every afternoon in May. The activity is called "Flores de Mayo" (Flowers of May). This is a church activity where young girls who don a simple long white dress and angel-like wings will hold a wide cloth in front the altar sometime during mass. Mass goers will offer flowers for Mother Mary and place them on the wide cloth. I come to appreciate flowers early on because of this activity. Flowers are lovely, they are beautiful, and they make me happy.

Midsummer Night's Dream | Gigi

When I think of Midsummer Night's Dream, I imagine a flowery, summery, whimsy, and full of greenery image. I had a chance to channel this concept in a vintage chic photo session with Gigi. Gigi is 5 years old, but she has a mind beyond her years. She is fun to talk with because her choice of words and answers never fail to catch me off guard. Case in point, she was hugging a stuffed sheep when I met her for the session, so to make her feel comfortable, I asked the name of her stuffed toy. She said that it does not have a name, I asked why and she told me, "because it's just a toy." I am too presumptuous to believe that like any child she will name her stuffed animal a personalized name. I knew I did (grin). Isn't it that these toys are a child's best friend and a source of comfort? Isn't it just fitting to name it with a proper name? :-)

A View from Above

Took this shot during a road trip to Southern Cebu. Below is a seashore with thick mangroves. I'm amazed by how far above we are from sea level. The trip to the South was refreshing. Provincial life is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city and especially from traffic!!!

Summer Child {Sneak Peek}

This is Gigi, a summer child. :-) She speaks what's on her mind and when you are in conversation with her, you will never know that she is just 5 years old. More to come of this photo shoot in the next few days.

You Inspire Me to Be an Architect

Macau does that to me. The place is laden with architecturally beautiful structures. The island is full of vibrant colors, sparkly lights, culturally rich heritage, and world-class shows in the casinos.

Macau can be reached by taking a ferry ride from China Ferry Terminal, HK. The New World First Ferry destination is in Macau Ferry Terminal/Maritimo Terminal at Macau Peninsula. We tried to make the most of our day in Macau by visiting a theme park, casinos, and a heritage structure.

Macau Fisherman's Wharf, Macau Peninsula. Ride in the Sand's Hotel free shuttle bus or you can choose to walk to the place because it is just a few meters from the Macau Ferry Terminal. The Sand's Hotel shuttle bus is parked at the right side of the Macau Ferry Terminal entrance. The Sand's Hotel is located across the Macau Fisherman's Wharf.

The Venetian, Taipa. From Macau Fisherman's Wharf, walk back to Macau Ferry Terminal and cross the street (through an underpass) to look for The Venetian free shuttle bus. You can eat lunch at The Venetian food court for a wide array of choices. The Venetian is a big casino with a lot of shops, you can get lost without a map. Be sure to get a map, you can ask the concierge for help.

City of Dreams, Taipa. Take a free shuttle bus to the City of Dreams from The Venetian. The bus is located at the parking area where The Venetian free shuttle bus drop off it's passengers. Be sure to watch the Dragon's Treasure show at the Bubble Place. The high-tech show is awesome. Request for the show's tickets near the Bubble Place. The show lasts for 10 minutes with a 30 minute interval.

Senado Square/St. Paul's Ruins, Macau Peninsula. Take a taxi to the "square". You can show a map to the driver and point to the place you are heading. It costs 50MP for the taxi ride. The "square" is a very busy place during weekdays and especially at around 4pm onwards. If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle, going to this place in the morning is probably the best time. While there, be sure to try out the beef jerky and egg tarts sold at the shops along the narrow street towards the "ruins".

Wynn Hotel, Macau Peninsula. From the "square" head on to the Wynn Hotel. Take a taxi at the taxi stand across the "square". You can end your trip at this hotel by entertaining yourself to a Dancing Waters show at the Performance Lake, Prosperity Tree show, and a Dragon of Fortune show. The Wynn Hotel has a free shuttle bus that can take you to the Macau Ferry Terminal.

Sweaty Weekend. So Warm.

Sigh Life! I wish I get to wake up everyday with this beautiful cloud formation, clear and sunny skies, white sandy beaches, blue waters, sturdy coconut trees, and a cool breeze. I love summer because it brings my island a beautiful day like the photo above, but please not too warm that it reaches 32C. It felt like a sauna day over the weekend, it calls for more than once of cold shower and a trip to McDonald's for a coke float. This is what they say "be careful with what you wish for." :-(

Play Time: Angel, Alleah, Josh, & JB

Summer heat + water = kids at play! What happens when there are 4 kids and a baby? It's chaos...a "good" chaos though. This was what happened when I met up with 3 of my friends for an out of town trip. It was fun spending time with my friends and their brood. The stars of the trip were not the adults, it was the little people.

Angel. She's got personality! Her dad calls her "baby" police because she wants to be a policewoman someday. She's a "tomboy" and she's not afraid of the water. She does not have formal swimming lessons, but she braves the pool by jumping right into it. She taught herself to hold her breath underwater and swim in her own way (grin).

Alleah. She has grown up to be a very charming girl. A couple of years ago, she was very shy. She did not easily warm up to people and seeing her smile was like hitting a jackpot. Nowadays, you can easily coax her to smile and she's more sociable. She's one witty and adorable little girl.

Josh & JB. Two brothers. Two different personalities. The water brings them together for play, but their blood relationship binds them for life.

Shade from Mr. Sun

Our weather in the tropics can't seem to make up it's mind. Lately, there are days that are too warm and in other days it's raining. Our country's weather agency has declared that our summer this year may end earlier than expected. Bummer. Our summer days our numbered so hurry and enjoy the sun before the weather becomes unpredictable. When it's a sunny day, it's a good day to head on to the beach. Sometimes though it becomes too warm and it's a NO NO for the skin. It's a good thing that most beaches have "cogon" or "nipa" huts to shade us from the heat. To those in the tropics, enjoy summer while it lasts; and to those who are still looking forward to summer, it's now the best time to plan and make the most out of it.

Baby's Day Out - Bernadette

Babies are adorable and my friend's daughter is no exception. Meet baby Bernadette, she's the youngest daughter of my friend and she is also my goddaughter. I don't see her that often; hence, I'm amazed how she has grown and developed a lot since her christening. She's 8 months old and just like other babies, she's starting to be curious around her. She keeps pulling and touching things. Whatever she holds on to she puts them in her mouth including her own hands, fingers, and toes.
Babies, they grow up so fast. A few months from now she'll be one year old. She'll continue to grow and outgrow some of her habits, hopefully, she'll no longer be thumbsucking. :)
